- We’re coming to a close in yet another exciting week of the 2010 fantasy baseball season. Before you get ready to set your line-up over the weekend for the next week, be sure to get updated on all injuries and roster changes.
Read on for all the buzz in the fantasy baseball world today:
Scott Rolen- 3B- Reds
Rolen missed his second start in three games on Thursday. Manager Dusty Baker says he’s “very sore” and “been tight for a couple of weeks”. It is believed to be a hamstring issue.
Alberto Castillo- R- Orioles
The Orioles optioned LHP pitcher Castillo to Triple-A Norfolk. During Thursday’s game against the Rangers he gave four runs on four hits, including a three-run homer.
Trevor Plouffe- SS- Twins
The Twins recalled SS Plouffe from Triple-A Rochester. J.J. Hardy isn’t ready to play yet after being placed on the disabled list, so Plouffe will provide the team with another infielder as of now.
Gregg Zaun- C- Brewers
Gregg Zaun is expected to go on the disabled list with a strained right shoulder. He will return to Milwaukee on Friday to get looked at by team doctors.
Luke Scott- DH- Orioles
Luke Scott, after starting at first base on Thursday, will most likely stay there through the Orioles weekend series with the Nationals. He is swinging the bat well and the Orioles will need that in their lineup during interleague play, when there is no DH.
Tim Lincecum- S- Giants
Tim Lincecum gave up a season-high five runs and also walked five over five innings in a no decision start against the Diamondbacks. He’s issued 10 walks over his last two starts.
Brian Fuentes- R- Angels
Brian Fuentes earned his sixth save of the season by delivering a perfect ninth in Thursday night’s game. His job appears safe or now.
Ervin Santana- S- Angels
Ervin Santana allowed only one run (unearned) over seven innings in his win over the White Sox on Thursday. He scattered seven hits while striking out six.
Gordon Beckham- 2B- White Sox
Beckham went 1-for-4 Thursday night with 3 RBIs. He’s in the middle of a sophomore slump and now has a total of 9 RBIs on the season to go with his .187 batting average.
Ubaldo Jimenez- S- Rockies
Ubaldo Jimenez left Thursday night’s game with a hamstring injury. The injury didn’t cause him to leave the game right away so perhaps it’s minor.
Andy Pettitte- S- Yankees
Andy Pettitte gave up seven runs, six earned, in five innings of work on Thursday. He gave up nine hits and two walks while taking his first loss of the year.
Jacoby Ellsbury- OF- Red Sox
Jacoby Ellsbury, out with a rib injury, is expected to return to the Red Sox on Sunday. He went 3-for-4 with a run scored in a rehab game with Double-A Portland.
Jon Lester- S- Red Sox
Lester tossed a complete game six-hitter in a win against the Twins Thursday. Lester allowed two runs -one earned- while striking out nine and walking one.
